LOS YORK Partners with Netflix to Launch Global Visual Identity for New Video Podcast Platform

As streaming giant Netflix expands its massive content library to include video podcasts, the brand faced a unique design challenge: introducing an entirely new media format without diluting the clarity, authority, and immediacy that defines the global Netflix experience.

To solve this, award-winning creative agency LOS YORK partnered closely with Netflix’s internal brand and product teams to develop a comprehensive, scalable visual identity system. The resulting design language successfully frames video podcasts as a first-class offering within the Netflix ecosystem, clearly differentiating them from traditional shows while ensuring they feel unmistakably Netflix.

A Framework Built on Simplicity and Modularity

The core approach for the new identity centered on simplicity, immediate brand recognition, and extreme modularity. LOS YORK was tasked with creating a system capable of unifying a wide, eclectic range of voices, formats, and visual cues across both Netflix Originals and licensed podcast content.

Crucially, the work needed to flex across dozens of unique titles and creators, scaling seamlessly from massive out-of-home (OOH) campaigns to fast-paced social media, digital marketing, and native on-service applications.

Design System Highlights

Rather than overcomplicating the introduction of the new format, LOS YORK allowed typography and strong brand signals to lead the visual strategy.

A Visual Expression of Conversation: Anchored by the iconic Netflix Sans typeface, the system introduces a set of custom quotation marks designed specifically for the podcast identity. These marks function as both a defining symbol and a structural framing device, providing a bold, ownable language that unifies the growing podcast slate.

Restrained, Iconic Color Palette: By strictly utilizing classic Netflix red and white, the system ensures immediate brand recognition, cutting through the noise across all platforms.

Flexible Grids and Motion: A robust system of adaptable grids and modular motion behaviors brings the identity to life. This framework allows for fast, scalable iteration across key art, audio-visual (AV) assets, and digital placements without ever sacrificing consistency or high-end craft.

Cohesion Without Uniformity

The final outcome is a clear, confident visual identity that scales effortlessly across different genres, talent, and platforms. By leaning into typographic restraint and powerful brand signals, the system achieves overarching visual cohesion without forcing strict uniformity on individual podcast creators.

With this bold new visual language, Netflix video podcasts have launched with an undeniable presence that is familiar, highly adaptable, and built for future growth.

Podcasts worth watching. Podcasts that are now unmistakably Netflix.
