LOS YORK ® × Netflix
Netflix Podcasts Identity System
Overview
As Netflix expanded its library to include video podcasts, the challenge was clear: how do you introduce a new content format without losing the clarity, authority, and immediacy of the brand? Partnering with Netflix’s internal brand and product teams, Los York developed a scalable visual identity system that clearly differentiates podcasts from traditional shows while feeling unmistakably Netflix. The work needed to flex across dozens of titles, formats, and creators, and scale seamlessly from social to OOH, digital, and on-service applications.

The Process
Our approach centered on simplicity, recognition, and modularity. We designed a system capable of unifying a wide range of voices, formats, and visual cues across both Netflix Originals and licensed podcasts. Typography became the primary expressive tool, anchored by Netflix Sans and a set of custom quotation marks designed specifically for the system. These marks act as both symbol and structure, serving as a visual expression of conversation. Together, they form a bold, ownable language that unifies a growing podcast slate. A restrained color palette of Netflix red and white ensured immediate brand recognition, while flexible grids and a modular motion system brought the identity to life across formats. Together, the system enables fast iteration across key art, OOH, AV, social, and digital placements without sacrificing consistency or craft.

The Outcome
The result is a clear, confident identity that reframes podcasts as a first-class offering within Netflix’s ecosystem. Simple in construction yet expansive in application, the system scales effortlessly across genres, talent, and platforms, creating cohesion without uniformity. By leaning into typography, restraint, and strong brand signals, Netflix Podcasts launched with an unmistakable presence that feels familiar, flexible, and built to grow.
